Welcome to the SRT blog No. 81

17th December 2021 – Welcome to our blog post No. 81

Wow not long now – just 8 sleeps to go until it’s……

……Christmas

This year’s Sunnyside calendar is a tribute to our volunteers, who feature within it, and shows some of the work that we do with you all at Sunnyside. Our work would not be possible without the contribution of our valued volunteers! Thank you!

Some of the Activity Centre team dropped into Christmas Tree Farm to choose their tree this year. What a beautiful morning for it!

Everyone joined in on the day for the tree decorating. Tinsel galore.

Paul & Michael are multi-tasking this week – cooking then making Christmas wreaths, snowmen and gnomes.

Mark at The Hub Café has had some new additions to the set up – a new hot plate from Stewart at Apex 360, the new EPOS retail stock system is in place and ready to go, plus Osbornes have donated some new kitchen cupboards now up on  the wall – and filled up!

A team from HFG popped over to carry out some weeding and tidying up around the car park, followed by some warming hot drinks and filling, breakfast rolls and wedges.

Gathering up a pie of gravel to add to the car park holes at Hemel Food Garden.

The Sunnyside Up Café & Farm shop are looking very festive….but the daily checks still need to be done like reading the fridge and freezer temperatures every day and this time, fixing the bug zapper on the wall.

The café made gluten free pizza, specially for some of the trainees.

And decorating for Christmas…..

And some great news! Olivia, from HFG, is starting work at the café at the Harry Potter Studios in Leavesden on Monday. Amazing to be working behind the scenes at the studios and part of their big team! We wish you all the best and luck for your start. Olivia will still be able to fit in time on a Friday at Sunnyside to take her ‘stretch’ classes ad carry on with the horticultural work, plus waitressing occasionally on a Saturday.

Have a great week!
