Cafés, farm shops & market stall

We have two farm shops, one at Northchurch and the other at Hemel Food Garden. Both sell Sunnyside produce such as fresh eggs, honey, jam and vegetables and both champion local, organic and fair-trade food.

We also now have 3 cafés. The cafés provide our trainees the opportunity to learn all the skills required to run a café, such as customer service, handling money, barista, cooking, and stock control.

The Sunnyside Up café & farm shop

Adjacent to the farm shop at Hemel Food Garden is our Sunnyside Up café. The café has a warm and friendly atmosphere and is dog and children friendly. Situated in a sunny spot, it has an outside seating area and is a popular destination for passers-by along the canal. During the winter months we also open our ‘Glass house café’ space, warm and spacious, ideal for when it’s cold and wet. The café uses organic ingredients, promotes zero waste and plastic free products. It also offers vegetarian and vegan options on the menu.

Weekly Berkhamsted Market Stall

Every Thursday morning (10.30-12.30), we have our market stall on Berkhamsted High Street, selling Sunnyside’s own fruit and vegetables, eggs, apple juice, jams, chutneys and gifts. It is a great opportunity for trainees to learn about customer service, retail and engaging with the public.

                                               Catering
At Sunnyside, we offer catering from our Hemel Food Garden Site. We provide high-quality service, fresh and ethical produce grown by young people and adults with learning disabilities, with ingredients that are sourced locally. We have the capacity to host meetings at our sites as well.

We have a menu of sandwiches, wraps, savoury sides, crisps, fruit and cakes. These are made using free-range meat and sustainable fish, with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. We also have homemade birthday cakes available!

We deliver, made at our Hemel Food Garden site in our Sunnyside Up Café.
