News – Sunnyside Rural Trust

It’s snowed. Our Sunnyside sites are open as usual for trainees and cafes are open for customers. Pop in for a hot cuppa!

19th December, 2022

Our Greenhouse café at Hemel food Garden is a designated ‘warmspace’. Stay as long as you like, buy a drink from our menu and then get a free tea and/or an instant coffee refill. Just ask staff for a refill card to enjoy free top ups whilst using our warm space. There are also games, books and loads of space for children to play. Open Monday to Saturday 10 to 3pm Hemel Food Garden, Two Waters Road, Hemel Hempstead. Herts. HP3 9BY

July, 2022 Disability Confident Leader

We won an equality and inclusion award from Dacorum Borough Council.

8th August, 2022 Green Flag Award 2022/23

Hemel Food Garden received the community Green Flag award from Keep Britain Tidy as a vital green space for the community in Dacorum. This award recognised the excellent facilities offered to the community and environment from our site. For more details do go to our news page…

Sunnyside Rural Trust charity and organisation was fully assessed and maintained our Gold Standard in Investors In People.

4th November, 2021 HCPA Community Gold Award

We achieved HCPA gold award for care providers

17th May, 2021 Queens Award for Voluntary Service. 

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – Sunnyside Rural Trust

We are delighted to announce we have been given The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2021. The equivalent of an MBE for charities.

1st April, 2021 West Herts Charity Trust

The Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss visited Hemel Food Garden last week to see the presentation of a 17 seater mini bus with wheelchair access from West Herts Charity Trust. Thank you WHCT for the 111th bus donation.

31st March, 2021 Hertfordshire High Sheriff visit to Sunnyside Northchurch

Henry Holland-Hibbert, the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire visited Northchurch to present us with the certificate for his 2021 awardAll the Sunnyside teams hard work over the last year and during the pandemic were recognised a couple of weeks ago in the online celebration. Thanks to all for their ongoing support.

11th March, 2021 Hertfordshire High Sheriff Awards      

*Great news* we have been awarded a Herts High Sheriff 2021 award recognising all the hard work over the last year and during the pandemic. An online celebration took place last week and 10 representatives from Sunnyside joined the online celebration. It recognises the spectacular work that has taken place by voluntary groups and individuals in Hertfordshire, in quite exceptional circumstances. The 26th High Sheriff Awards, hosted by Henry Holland-Hibbert the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire wanted to recognise groups that have shown particular excellence in supporting their local communities or beneficiaries during this pandemic.

Whilst it is usual to meet in person to celebrate these awards, appreciation was able to be shown for the great work all the nominees do in their local community, via a virtual audience instead of the usual event at County Hall. 

December, 2020 Hertfordshire Care Awards   

We have been awarded an ‘Outstanding Achievement’ plaque at the Hertfordshire Care Awards. The annual awards celebrate and reward the successes of care providers within Hertfordshire.

We are a Travellers’ Choice Winner 2020 with Tripadvisor
Each year they comb through reviews, ratings, and saves from Travellers everywhere, and use that info to award the very best. Thank you to all who reviewed us over the last year and to all of our customers for your continued support.

July, 2020 Heroes of Hertfordshire award

We have been recognised for the work we have done over the last year and it goes to all the team, trainees and volunteers who have gone the extra mile in these challenging times – we thank you!
