We’re delighted that Sunnyside Rural Trust has been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund 2021 / 22

At a time when funds for community groups and charitable organisations are becoming more difficult to access, we’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference in Dacorum.

We’re raising funds this year to employ a person with learning disabilities to run our community bakery, and train to teach others.

Sunnyside offers training and work experience for over 130 vulnerable, young people and adults, in the local community. We train people with learning disabilities in a number of rural and retail activities. This all takes place across Dacorum, in a range of tranquil settings and in as environmentally friendly a way as possible.

We aim to offer our schools and community groups baking courses; particularly focussing on the therapeutic benefits of baking and nutritional value. This would further add to our employment of people with learning disabilities. We would then use the income from this project to continue to fund salaries and create more opportunities.
