Welcome to the SRT blog No. 96

8th April 2022 – Welcome to our blog post No. 96

James Kenyon from Sunnyside Northchurch was at St Albans museum to see his artwork ‘Heartwood sunset’ in the emerging artist exhibition on now.

Last week some of the HFG team were at the Boho Boxmoor Easter event. A tad chilly but lots of enquiries about the plants so hopefully we will see some new customers down at the plant nursery.

The Activity Centre team were jet washing in Bovingdon this week and mowing the grass at the Memorial Hall.

Remember the bulbs  the team planted last autumn in Bovingdon – here they are in flower. Gorgeous.

Mark & Neil were out in a very blowy Berkhamsted High Street yesterday with the market stall – less gazebo (not blown away – they didn’t put it up!)

Someone’s been busy.

The eggs have cosy head warmers for Easter.

Michael H & Becca were with Ian over at Pitstone Museum collecting Aylesbury prune tree suckers. Last year they took cuttings, which have started to flower, so hopefully have some roots as well.

Suru was planting up the prepared suckers to add to the collection.

Northchurch had a visitor this week – meet Woodie (the dog) whose been looking after Zoe and having a turn with different trainees for walks!

David, Tina, Michael and Sylvia clearing and preparing polytunnels for planting.

In go the spinach plants between the garlic. Johnny & Ian helping George with Michael.

Litter picking over in Little Gaddesden this time. Simon, Michael, Taylor and Christian.

Signage for the herbs that are ready for sale from Saturday at the ‘Grab & Grow’ event.

Some extra protection for the small veg plants over night this week as there have been some cold ones.

Are there newcomers at the site in the wildlife pond…….ducks. Ummmm a late April fool – I only have a picture of the sign!

The sign makers this week are Oliver & Peter.

Izzy loves the new vertical gardening at Hemel Food Garden

Bit of a break, so it’s back to the jigsaw….

…..others are always drawn in to share.

Busy planting dahlias took the day.

Tyler did some excellent weeding and mowing yesterday, on an outside contract at a Mencap house in Watford.

And tried not to be blown away. It was windy over there!

*New in* at the Sunnyside Up Farm shop

50% of the profits from these lines go towards the Ukraine Crisis appeal

*New* cacti & succulent pots with plants.

Great fun.

And you can order your own pot with your own words on – just ask in the shop.

Don’t forget if you can make it, the Northchurch team have put in loads of effort to get ready for their big Spring Event tomorrow.

‘Grab & Grow’ at Northchurch, Sat 9th April 10 until 2pm. There will be lots of veggie plants and lovely herbs for sale as well as a pizza van, music by the uchulele band a map for an Easter hunt and lots more.

Hope to see you there

Until next week…..
