Welcome to the SRT blog No. 130

6th January 2023 – Welcome to our blog post No.130

Happy New Year to you all!

Have you taken down our decorations and it’s all looking a bit bare? Grab a hot drink and take a look at some of things the sites achieved in 2022. It’s the first week back and things are back into full swing at Sunnyside……

Remember 2022 at HFG…….

George has re-vamped the houseplant range, available to buy from the warm space, greenhouse café at Hemel Food Garden. Green up these grey days, indoors.

Chris was the winner of the Sunnyside Hamper raffle, presented by Joe at the Sunnyside Up Cafe. Thanks to all who bought raffle tickets.

2022 at the Activity Centre

Just before Christmas the team had a Christmas dinner each day – including Sunnyside grown sprouts. This one was prepared with help from Ed, Sophia and volunteer Keith. Ed made the mince pies.

The Christmas market stall– Becca, Annette, Adhar and Josie. The reindeer pack!

This week the reindeer came to Bovingdon to help with branch & twig clearance.

Essential tool maintenance and sharpening –a great time of year to do this. Hyacinth bulb planting.

Willow cutting still happening in the coppice.

Some of the willow is then woven around the coppiced hazel rods and made into obelisk plant supports. Great idea to use the tyre as a base support in which to work.

An AC team have been weeding – Kritika, Lewis, Mark, Tony, Becca and Aisha.

Niall, Becca and Michael H weeding in the fruit area.

Rissotto making.

Sophia updating the Market Stall board – Happy New Year!

2022 memories from Northchurch

This week…..Michael, Jake and Charli were working hard to clear some allotments at Aldbury even in the rather grotty weather.

A new project underway – preparing the ground for a new cut flower bed. Then the daffodil and tulip bulbs were planted.

Checking in on the goats. Everybody’s well and have had a few treats!

Strimming lesson underway. Undercover and clearing the weeds ready for new, no dig, planting.

Sam has a guilty look on his face after rolling around in the mud!

Have a great weekend….

…until next week.
