Everyone should have received a letter now about the really exciting news on the tablets from the Good Things Foundation project called Digital Lifeline. The aim of this project is to use digital inclusion to alleviate the disproportionate negative impact of Covid-19, on People with Learning Disabilities. This project identifies that people with learning disabilities are more likely not to have technology or be able to connect online and are more likely to be lonely. Research shows that being able to connect online helps people’s mental health and wellbeing and may reduce loneliness. 

 

 

 

 

 

Sunnyside has been successful in its application to this project, and this means we are able to give each of our trainees a tablet that will belong to them. The tablets are a Lenovo Tab M10, and if people do not have wifi we can give people data too. They will also get a cover for the tablet and a stylus pen.  

We also have some information to share with you about health promotion for people with learning disabilities.

St. George’s Day celebrations at Hemel Food Garden. Home made bunting was put up, flags were flying and a feast of traditional rhubarb crumble picked, chopped, mixed, cooked and served. Real pot to plate food.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Everyone also enjoyed a BBQ on Friday last week and celebrated St. Goerge’s day with lemon tray bake cake, made & decorated by Jodie. Perfect! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The cats shed is now re-constructed after it’s collection from a donor a couple of weeks ago. Just need to arrange the interior décor now. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The bakery is waiting to be kitted out  – just the worktops to arrive and things will then be put into their right place. 

On it’s outside, but still inside, the mezzanine has been finished and the stairs painted ready to become a storage space. You can never have enough space for storage!

The latest contract job for Berkhamsted Parish Council by team AC including Pete, David, Graham, Luka and Noreen. They removed any greenery that was touching or growing onto metal railings running alongside the canal, just outside the train station. This is in preparation for them to then be painted. They removed young tree branches, ivy, and lots of brambles, working through lunch to get the job done. Thanks team, great dedication! 

Michael, Becca, Ellie & Suru have been planting the first of the potato crop on site. 

Our coppiced hazel rods are used for the runner bean supports.

The veg box season has got off to a great start – here’s this week’s boxes ready for collection at Northchurch. 

Hollie, enjoying the sun, preparing stirrers and sugars for the café, in Sunnyside style. 

Yet more pallets being taken apart by Hollie & Gillian –they have so many uses. 

Matthew attending to the chickens, enjoying some quiet time – not sure if it was that quiet with that many chickens? 

The pond is settling in and frogs have discovered it as tadpoles have been seen. Spot one of the roaming cats.

Northchurch carry out grass cutting work at the Rectory Lane Cemetery in Berkhamsted.

This week its National Gardening Week and we started with a Sunnyside produce and plant stall at the  

National Garden Scheme Open Garden at Pie Corner at the weekend.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fantastic weather and amazing customers who bought lots of our perennial plants from the Sunnyside market stall manned by Jules & Heidi from HFG and after lunch by Catherine & Zoe.

We have our plants for sale at the Hemel Food Garden, Sunnyside Up Café & Farmshop. Open Mon to Sat 10 until 3pm.
