Offsite Contracts Senior Gardener (Team Leader)

Sunnyside Rural Trust is a registered charity who has developed an innovative model of care-based support that offers training and work experience to adults with Learning Disabilities, within social enterprise and horticultural settings. Across our services we grow a range of produce and plants that include bedding plant contracts for local councils and perennial plants for garden designers. We also have Farm shop cafés and provide therapeutic services that include caring for animals.

Hours: Flexible up to full time 37.5hrs 

Salary: Starting at £28,000pa (FT) 

We are seeking an experienced, pragmatic, and creative gardener to carryout gardening contracts and support an apprentice gardener and lead a small capable landscape and grounds maintenance team who want to gain work experience. 

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Demonstrable experience of horticultural, grounds maintenance or landscaping skills and/or a relevant level 2 horticultural qualification. 
  • A track record of either managing or working for a successful gardening business 
  • Sound knowledge and experience of the safe use of both manual and powered gardening tools and equipment 
  • A passion about creating work opportunities for people from all walks of life and abilities. 
  • The ability to organise conflicting priorities, be a self-starter, enthusiastic and highly motivated.  
  • Ability to read landscape plans and drawings 
  • Undertake basic costings (support given) 

Additional requirements include, excellent interpersonal, timekeeping and communication skills, good IT skills, valid driving license and able to drive and operate our minibuses work vehicles, and ride on machines.
