At Sunnyside Rural Trust we are both a charity and a social enterprise.  Our trading activities enable us to provide services that customers want but also provide opportunities for our trainees to gain additional skills.

We hold the Social Enterprise Mark which validates that we put people and the planet before profit. Profits from our social enterprise activities are reinvested in Sunnyside Rural Trust and make a big contribution to our funding.

We are committed to trading openly, honestly and putting the trainee at the centre of what we do. We aim to improve the communities in which we operate, growing to organic principles, using environmentally sustainable practices and recycling wherever possible.

Since June 2012 our dedicated Farm Shop at Hemel Food Garden has been open to champion local food and promote local organic and fair-trade food, as well as to sell our own produce.  The shop also serves as a cafe selling drinks and cake to visitors both regular and first timers who have found us walking their dog along the canal!  It provides our trainees with valuable additional skills in dealing with customers, handling money, displaying produce, pricing items and using a till.

We also sell produce at our Northchurch site and on a regular Thursday morning stall on Berkhamsted High Street.
